What's in the name?

There is a quote in the Bible which states that a good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

Wheather it is for a person, a product or an organization, most would put in effort to come up with a special and meaningful name.

However, this is only the first step.

Thousand of brand names to day command her power. Everyone recognizes them. But it take times and energy to build the character and the brand.

It is with this in mind that a search was intensify in order to name the new hotel at Suria Mall.

The hotel was orignally registered under the company name of WOW. The intension is to provide that special awe. However, to operate and build the name that will reflect on the long term vision of the hotel group, which no doubt will span different categories and classes, a new name is needed. It will also gives  a fresh energy to the group.

Hundred of names were suggested and as expected, all involved has different ideas. The name has to be relevant to the local environment yet it can not be the ever popular and over exposed and over abused name.

It  was then decided to narrow the search to the local flower, the orchid.

As there are many species of orchid found in Sabah, especially around the Mount Kinabalu  area. The search for the name is not going to be easy.

Finally, Grandis was decided. This orchid is not only beautiful, the name also adds a special class to the product, our hotel. Beside, it is not difficult to pronoun the name.

Grandis Hotels and Resorts Sdn Bhd was registered. The concept and vision mapped out. It is a brand that is to be reckoned with. We will build our first hotel in the center of town, aiming to provide 5 star product and service at a rate that is value for money.

Grandism:
- We are a service company with competitive products and service
- More comfort. More Value. A better choice.
- Our greatest asset is our employees.
- Our guest is more than a customer.

Now, the real work begins.
